Where is Towradgi's Ocean Pool?
Towradgi Rock Pool consists of a 50 m lap pool and a smaller children’s paddling pool.
Previously known as Towradgi Pool, Towradgi Baths and Towradgi Olympic Pool. A late bloomer as far as local ocean pools go, works only began in 1959.
Located on the headland at the end of Towradgi Road, it sits between Corrimal Beach to the north and Towradgi Beach to the south. Conveniently located right next door to Towradgi Bowling Club where you can grab a feed or a coffee after your swim.
Depending on the swell and the sand banks, there can also be some fun waves to be had if you fancy a surf as well.
Visiting Towradgi's Rock Pool the first time
Definitely more of a lap pool vibe, mostly due to it’s shape and construction. It features an extensive “viewing” platform that doubles as a great spot to lizard on your towel and warm up after your swim.
Unfortunately on my last visit, the pool was struggling with an immense amount of sand washed in. There was just enough room to sneak in a few laps where my fingers touched the bottom at the lowest part of my freestyle stroke.
Just a few days later, Wollongong Council had got some heavy machinery in to remove the sand and make the pool useable again.

Great kids park located just next to amenities north of the Towradgi ocean pool. Next to Towradgi Bowling Club where you can grab a feed.
Great access to the Wollongong coastal cycle way.
What other ocean pools are near Towradgi Rock Pool?
If you want to cycle, you can easily swim here and then go for a short 3.2 km ride north and double up with a swim at Bellambi Rock Pool, or travel in a southerly direction for 4.6 kms and take your pick of the Gentlemen’s Pool or the Continental right next door, in the heart of Wollongong.
The Famous Towradgi Hump!
Be sure to check out the famous Towradgi Hump while you’re in the vicinity! The kids never get sick of taking this on and making those tummies feel funny! (We’re all about cheap fun these days!). Best travelling west to east, but be careful of cars turning right after you hit the crest.
Will definitely revisit Towradgi Pool again when it is back to it’s best.
What is the water temperature like?

No lifeguards on duty. Lifeguards on duty at the Corrimal Beach and Towradgi Beach.
Is there Car Parking near Towradgi ocean pool?
Lots of free street parking in car park on Towradgi Road, with a short walk from the pool.
Are there BBQ Facilities near Towradgi's saltwater pool?
Gas BBQ facilities and under cover picnic tables located in Towradgi Beach Park just north of the ocean rock pool.
How big is Towradgi Rock Pool?
The big lap pool measures 47m x 22m which doesn’t include marked lanes.
The paddling pool is 14m by 6m and I’ll check out the depth on my next visit.

Is Towradgi Olympic Pool Wheelchair and Pram accessible?
The pool level is accessible via a ramp or stairs.
Good wheelchair access to the level of the pool. Stairs with railing to get into the pool itself.

What are the changeroom and shower facilities like at Towradgi Rock Pool?
Cold water open air showers located near the track from the beach just north of the pool.
Changerooms are available with cold water showers.
Accessible toilets and showers.
