North Curl Curl's Ocean Pool
North Curl Curl Rock Pool is a unique pool nestled under the cliffs at the northern end of Curl Curl Beach. In close proximity to Dee Why Ocean Pool to the north, and South Curl Curl Rock Pool to the South. It certainly feels more secluded than some of it’s neighbours. This is in part, due to it’s location, but also due to it’s make up. Featuring a rocky island in the middle, and half of the pool being too shallow to swim due to it’s rocky bottom, lap swimmers have little room to lap, and it’s only 32m long anyway.
Visiting North Curl Curl Ocean Pool
Much better suited to snorkelers and photographers in my opinion. The rocky bottom is a great habitat for many sea creatures who have been washed in at high tide. The rocky island and silhouette of the fence surrounding the pool at sunrise lend themselves to a would-be photographer’s dream.
Another one of these pools that allows the avid explorer to circumnavigate the pool before diving in. North Curl Curl is unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties. Accessed at low tide via the beach followed by some rock hopping, or a big set of stairs from the coastal walk.
Amenities are located at the nearby North Curl Curl Surf Life Saving Club, but do not include a wheelchair friendly toilet.
