Where is Thirroul Ocean Pool?
Thirroul Pool is located alongside the middle of Thirroul Beach. Behind the pool is Thirroul Reserve, a beautiful park with great play equipment for the kids.
Next door to Thirroul Beach Pavilion, and just south of Thirroul Surf life Saving Club.
A short drive from Sydney, you can get to Thirroul Pool in just over an hour in the car.
Visiting Thirroul Pool the first time
Definitely more of a lap pool vibe, mostly due to it’s shape and construction. It features a bit of a grandstand along the eastern wall.
Thirroul Pool is great for the kids
Featuring a kids paddling pool, and the beach right next door.
Great kids park located just west of the pool.
What other ocean pools are near Thirroul Pool?
If you want to tackle a couple of pools in a day, you can easily swim here and then go for a short 3.9 km drive north to Coledale Rock Pool or travel in a southerly direction for 4.6 kms and go for a swim at Bulli Rock Pool.
What is the water temperature like?
Our fantastic companion Dunlop the duck told us the water temp was a balmy 18.3 degrees on our last visit. If you would like to get your own Dunlop to tell you the water temp of where ever you swim…you can get one here.

Are Lifeguards on duty at Thirroul Baths ocean pool?
No lifeguards on duty. Lifeguards on duty at the Corrimal Beach and Towradgi Beach.
Is there Car Parking near Thirroul ocean pool?
Lots of free street parking in car park on Towradgi Road, with a short walk from the pool.
Are there BBQ Facilities near Thirroul saltwater pool?
Gas BBQ facilities and under cover picnic tables located in Towradgi Beach Park just north of the ocean rock pool.
How big is Thirroul Pool?
The big lap pool measures 50m x 18m which includes ten marked lanes.
The paddling pool is 17m by 7m and I’ll check out the depth on my next visit. It’s also protected by a shade cloth to protect the little ones from the harsh Summer sun.
Is Thirroul Olympic Pool Wheelchair and Pram accessible?
Access pool level is pretty flat, so good access to where the pool is. Access into the pool itself is via stairs. Not listed as wheelchair accessible on Wollongong Council website.

What are the changeroom and shower facilities like at Thirroul Rock Pool?
Cold water open air showers next to the pool.
Changerooms are available with cold water showers in the building north of the pool.
Accessible toilets.
