Kiama's Ocean Pool
The Blowhole Point Rock Pool in Kiama has also been through a few name changes over the years. Some of her aliases include Blow Hole Point Baths, Kiama Rock Pool, Kiama Continental Baths and Kiama Men’s Baths.
In the 1890’s this was a men’s only pool and stayed that way until 1929, when women and kids were allowed in as well. Before that, they had to stick to the pool on the other side of Kiama Harbour known as the Continental Pool.
Of the two ocean pools in Kiama, this one is definitely my favourite. I love the rocky sides and the more natural appearance. On a high tide and a big swell, it certainly feels a bit more wild than it’s larger counterpart.
