Where is Giles Baths?

Giles Baths is a secluded rock pool hidden at the northern end of Coogee Beach. From the beach you wouldn’t even know it was there. At the bottom of Dolphin Point this ocean pool is a relative newcomer to the public as far as accessibilty goes. Not as popular as the more well-known Wylie’s Baths at south Coogee, Giles has a much more raw and natural feel.

Why Giles Baths rock pool is a great place to swim

Tucked away at the bottom of the cliff on Dolphin Point, you’ve got a great view of the famous Coogee Beach, while being able to swim in the safety of this unique rock pool. On a high tide or when the waves are bigger, the waves break into the pool making it more fun than a more traditional pool where you would go to swim laps.

Packing a snorkel is essential

The pool is perfect for snorkelling adventures, with it’s rocky bottom full of fantastic places for fish and other sea creatures to hide and swim.

Which tide is the best to swim at Giles baths?

It’s a little shallow at low tide, but mid to high tide is good for swimming and jumping off the rocks into the deeper parts of the pool.

How big is Giles Baths?

Measuring about 55m long (although there is no real wall at the western end) by 20m wide at it’s widest. Most of the pool is about 12m wide.

Is Giles Baths Rock pool and beach wheelchair and pram accessible?

Difficult access down stairs and into the pool itself from the rocks which can sometimes be slippery. Able bodied access only. Not recommended for small children.
