Where is Sydney's Mahon Pool?
Mahon Pool is situated on the flats of the expansive rock platform at the north end of Maroubra Beach. Maroubra is just 12kms south from the centre of Sydney.
Originally the site of a natural rock pool, the site has had some man-made improvements over time.
A natural hidey hole, the pool evokes a feeling of seclusion ,despite your proximity to the city. I can’t think of a feeling that is more refreshing.

What other ocean pools are near Mahon Pool?
If you are after another ocean pool just to jump in for a quick cool off, Mahon Pool is equidistant from the beautiful Ivor Rowe rock pool is just 1.6kms to the north, and South Maroubra Rock Pools to the south.
If you feel like another pool you can swim a few laps in you can head to Malabar Ocean Pool 4.7kms in a southerly direction..
Don't forget to pack your snorkel and your camera
Mahon Pool is another beauty that is a photographer’s delight. The natural rocky surroundings combined with this cracking outlook along with that classic chain link fence.

Leanne is a keen local photographer and swimmer at Mahon Pool. This kind of pool is my favourite, the more-natural feel, the rocky bottom. I love putting on my snorkel and just exploring the undersea world without any outside noise or distractions. Like an underwater meditation.

How big is Mahon Pool?
Not quite rectangular, Mahon Pool measures about 33m by 28m at it’s longest and widest points, according to Nicole Larkin’s “The Wild Edge” ocean pool mapping project.

Open 24 hours a day. Except when it is being cleaned.
