The Ultimate Guide to Huskisson Sea Pool

Where is Huskisson Sea Pool?

Huskisson Sea Pool is on the Headland next to Voyager Park in the centre of this beautiful south coast village. Almost 3 hours south of Sydney, this pool is a good one to visit on a weekend trip down the coast.

There are two carparks off Owen St, one either side of the famous Huskisson Hotel. I’d recommend a drop off at the bottom of the carpark opposite Currambene St for anyone with mobility difficulties.

Why Huskisson pool is a great place to swim

This is a sweet place to put your goggles on and punch out some laps. The water is crisp (well, it was the day in September 2024 that I visited), and the air is fresh. The town of Huskisson is a great place to visit (when it’s not school holidays), and you might even get the pool to yourself.

The outlook across Jervis Bay is spectacular, especially as you get to the eastern end on your laps, you can peep through the overflow gaps as you go! After your swim, the grassy hills overlooking the pool are a great place to lay down and warm up in the sun.

The bright blue paint job, along with the line markings makes and black fencing makes Huskisson Pool feel a bit like Ulladulla Sea Pool’s twin sister, although I definitely prefer the outlook from this one.

There’s also a kiddies pool under a big shade cloth to keep the little ones happy.

The pool itself is nice for doing some laps for fitness, but you can’t come this far without going for a snorkel in Jervis Bay. The abundance of sea life here is unmatched. The same day I swam in Huskisson Sea Pool, I went for a snorkel at nearby Murrays Beach.

In the space of an hour I saw sooo many fish, (including a massive blue groper, wobbegong sharks and cuttlefish). Others in the same group were lucky enough to see a turtle!

How big is Huskisson Sea Pool?

According to All Into Ocean Pools website this pool measures 50m in length. I stepped out the width and guestimate it to be 16m with it’s 6 lanes marked. The two outside lanes are positioned pretty close to the wall, so maybe a little tight if all the lanes were full?

The legends that painted this pool have been super enthusiastic at providing the depth of the pool as well, starting at 1.7m in the deep end on the eastern side to 1.4m near the middle ladders and 1.0m deep at the shallow end which is closest to the gate where you enter.

How big is Huskisson kids pool?

My trusty stepping out technique tells us this baby pool is about 11m by 6m. It measures 0.4m at the deep end to 0.25m at the shallow end. The kids pool is fenced and has a shade sail as well as some seating.

What other ocean pools are nearby?

Huskisson Sea Pool is only 36 minutes drive from the beautiful Currarong Rock Pool. It’s also only 47 mins drive south to the popular Mollymook Bogey Hole

If you’re looking for another ocean pool to punch out some laps, Ulladulla Sea Pool is about the same distance to the south.

What is the water temperature like?

On a day in September 2024 that was quite cloudy and mild, Dallas the Duck reported that the water temperature was 20.1 degrees.

Access into the main pool is via a set of metal stairs with hand railing in the south west corner (the closest to the gate entry). There are also vertical ladders in each corner and halfway along each of the long sides of the pool.
