Ocean Rock Pools Australia

Ulladulla Sea Pool

How big is Ulladulla Sea Pool?

Ulladulla Sea Pool is a 50m lap pool located at the southern end of Ulladulla Harbour. That “pool blue’ paint on the bottom, with the old black line lane markings, it feels like there’s no surprises with this one. Six or seven lanes wide, and pleasant enough on a scorching October afternoon after a long day on the tennis court. Although the water was a little murky on the day we were there, would feel much nicer after a clean, I’m sure.

Visiting Ulladulla Sea Pool

Because I’m not much of a distance swimmer, I don’t probably appreciate this style of pool as much as the more natural type of ocean pools. I feel like the natural ones have a bit more of their own personality, a better vibe if you will. These sky blue lap pools are a bit more about the work, and I’m more about the leisure. In saying that, each pool does still have its own vibe, and I’ve got to say I didn’t love this pool’s vibe as much as some of the other’s I’ve visited so far.

What was it? I can’t say for sure, it’s in a nice enough location, with accessible path and brand new accessible toilet with a nice mural on the side. Maybe the black fence? I don’t love the fence. Maybe it’s because someone else is dictating the hours in which you can attend?

Although you could say the same for Huskisson Sea Pool, as these two are almost twins in their appearance, and, yet, I enjoyed Huskisson much more. Maybe I need to give Ulladulla a second chance.

Where is Ulladulla Sea pool?

It’s located just behind the Marine Rescue building with a good access path to the pool.

There’s some steps at the Western end of the pool provide good access to the water. Featuring some shade to sit and watch the kids swim at the same end. The day we visited wasn’t planned so David duck was at home, but due to how balmy it felt I’m going to guess that the water felt about 22 degrees.

The pool used to be closed all Winter, but according to the Shoalhaven Swim Sport Fitness website, it looks like that is no longer the case, although I will follow this up. Now it’s opening hours are listed from 6am-6pm daily, except for regular cleaning on Tuesdays. To be honest I probably wouldn’t want to swim outside those hours most days anyway, but it does feel a little restrictive to me.

Electric BBQs located a short walk north of the pool and a lovely outlook as well. If you have the time and the opportunity, I highly recommend you try one of Hayden’s famous pies. Just a bit further south on the main road, if you’re here during the school holidays, there’s bound to be a line up, but worth the wait is what my taste buds tell me.

I haven’t tried the coffee, but the pies are delicious. Our latest samples of butter chicken, Steak with green peppercorn sauce and Roast mushroom, creamed spinach and goat’s cheese were just the right thing to warm you up after a swim!
