What other names is Kiama's Ocean Pool known by?
The Continental Ocean Pool on the north side of Kiama Harbour is the bigger of Kiama’s two ocean pools. It has been known by several names throughout it’s history including Pheasant Point Baths, Kiama Ladies Baths, Kiama Olympic Pool, Black Beach Continental, and Old School Flat Pool.
Featuring in our Best of Wollongong’s Ocean Pool Guide 2024, Kiama Ocean Pool is 50m in length, located next to a massive grassed area at Pheasant Point Reserve. A short walk north from Kiama’s main street.
What other ocean pools are near Pheasant Point Baths?
It’s only 1.2kms further south to Kiama Blowhole Rock Pool.
Jump in the car and it’s only 13 minutes and 14 minutes respectively to Werri Beach Rock Pool and Boat Harbour Rock Pool in Gerringong.
In a northerly direction, the closest are Beverley Whitfield at Shellharbour Village and Port Kembla Olympic Pool at 15.5kms and 27.5kms respectively.

Make sure to pack your snorkel
You never know what amazing sealife may have been washed into the Continental Ocean Pool at Kiama with the last big swell.
Not just for humans to enjoy, the Pheasant Point Pool was home to a resident octopus that the locals enjoyed feeding regularly back in January 2023.
Blending into the natural rocky bottom, the locals nicknamed him ET, because of his alien-like features.

Limited free street parking on Shoalhaven Street, with a short 500m walk along the path to the pool.

What is the water temperature at the Continental baths in Kiama?
When I visited in Winter 2024 Dathan Duck confirmed it was a chilly 16.5 degrees!

Are there BBQ Facilities near Kiama's saltwater pool?
Gas BBQ facilities located in Kiama Rotary park a short 1km walk south, closer to the Blowhole Point Rock Pool.

The pool level is accessible via a flat walk north along the path to the pool.

Which of Kiama's two ocean pools is the best?
It depends on your style. Or maybe your mood? This one is so big it feels luxurious to swim in, and there’s so much to see when you explore with your snorkel under the surface.
The other one is little and cute. I dig the more natural rocky appearance. It always seems busier with the locals too. Which one is your fave?
