Wylie’s Baths is located at the southern end of Sydney’s famous Coogee Beach. Coogee, in fact has four ocean pools in close proximity, and it is definitely Wylie’s who is the most popular and the most well known.

Something about this pool reminds me of Boat Harbour Rock Pool at Gerringong.
I’m looking forward to soaking up some rays poolside when I get there.
Why Wylie's is a great place to swim
Every ocean pool is different, and that’s why we love them. Wylie’s Baths is definitely unique. The pool is heritage listed, and I get the sense that when you get here, you can feel the history all around.
I love the way the waves wash over the pool at high tide. This is one of my favourite features of some of the ocean pools. That classic chain link fence around the outside, I’m here for it.
I don’t love the fact that there’s an entry fee, but I do like that that might deter some other folks, making it slightly less crowded?
What else can you do at Wylie's Baths?
Wylie’s Baths is a bit like a health retreat. You can enjoy an open air massage, or if you like, you can do a yoga or pilates class. When I go to Wylie’s, I will be setting aside a whole day to make sure I get the full experience.
Available to hire as a venue for your next wedding or photo shoot, this place intrigues me.
What other ocean pools are near Wylie's Baths Ocean Pool?
Coogee is spoiled for ocean pools, with four in very close proximity.
A short 350m walk north from Wylie’s will get you to McIvers Ladies Baths (sorry gents, this one is only for the ladies).
Only 600m north is Ross Jones Memorial Pool, also at the southern end of Coogee Beach.
At the north end of Coogee Beach, you’ll find Giles Baths, a more natural rock pool.
If you want to travel a little further, I’d highly recommend a visit to the Geoff James Pool at Clovelly, a short 2.7km drive to the north or, to the south, Ivor Rowe Rock Pool a short 1.7km drive south, or a bit further south to Mahon Pool, 2.6kms south of Wylie’s. Talk about being spoiled for choice!
Make sure to pack your snorkel or goggles
Wylie’s is home to lot’s of different sea creatures. Octopuses and nudibranches, cuttlefish and all sorts of fish. If you’d like some idea of what you might find, check out @randwickmarinelife on instagram, some amazing shots of beautiful creatures.

What is the water temperature like?
Our fantastic companion Don the duck tells us the water temp when we visit ocean pools. We haven’t been to Wylie’s yet, but will make sure to take him when we go! If you would like to get your own Don to tell you the water temp of where ever you swim…you can get one here.
How much does it cost to swim at Wylie's rock pool?
$6 entry fee for adults and $3 for kids.
There’s also packages of 10 visits that work out a bit cheaper, or you can get a season pass for $370. Entry is included for fitness passport holders.

In Summer 7am-7pm, and in Winter 7am-5pm.

Parking can be difficult, particularly on a hot Summer’s day. There is a car park off Neptune Street.
Are there BBQ Facilities near Wylie's Baths saltwater pool?
BBQ facilities available in Grant Reserve just west of the pool.
How big is Wylie's baths Rock Pool?
The pool measures 46m in length, which is the equivalent of 50 yards in the olden days.
33m wide, this pool is a nice big one, giving you lots of great space to explore. Or to do your laps, if that’s more your bag.
Is Wylie's baths Pool Wheelchair and Pram accessible?
