Where is Bellambi's Ocean Pool?

Bellambi Rock Pool is located on the rock shelf at the southern end of Bellambi Beach. Just north of Bellambi Boat ramp.

The pool is accessed via a left hand turn off Robert Cram Drive in Bellambi.

A popular spot for families to cool off on a hot day, followed by a chance to sun themselves like lizards on either the concrete surrounds, or the grassy hill that overlooks the pool.

What other ocean pools are near Bellambi Rock Pool?

Bellambi Rock Pool is also located right on the cycle way that runs up the coast. If you feel the urge, its only a 2.5 km ride north to Woonona Rock Pool, or 3 kms south to Towradgi Rock Pool, where there is another quality kids park. Only a quick drive to either neighbouring ocean pool as well.

How old is Bellambi Rock Pool?

Bellambi Rock Pool is the baby of all the Illawarra ocean pools. Only born in 1965, she is the youngest of them all. in 2024 that makes her only 59 years old!

Featuring in our guide to the Best of Wollongong’s Ocean Pools 2024, Bellambi Rock Pool is great for doing laps, with the added benefit of a close up view of the surfers riding their mals on the point. The pool break at Bellambi is a surfing mecca for all the longboarders who reside in the local area.

In the Summer the pool is always busy on a hot day, but in Winter, much less so-you might even get the place to yourself!

What is access like to Bellambi rock Pool?

Entry to the pool itself is via a ramp straight ahead as you approach. There’s also a ladder on the northern end of the western wall.

Is Bellambi Rock Pool good for kids?

The kids love to play on the rock platform on the eastern side of the pool on a low tide, but on a high tide this area is under water. On a king tide or big swell, the waves can lap over the edge of the main pool.

There is also a kids park right next door, so it’s a great destination for the littlies to burn some energy. If that’s not enough, Bellambi Rock Pool is also located right on the coastal bike track,

What is the water temperature like at Bellambi Rock Pool?

When I visited in 2024 Doe Duck confirmed it was a chilly 16.9 degrees!

Is there Car Parking near Bellambi ocean pool?

Free car parking in the car park next to the pool. Be sure to lock your car and keep your valuables out of sight. If the surf is pumping, it might be hard to get a spot.

Are there BBQ Facilities near Bellambi's saltwater pool?

No barbeques. Shaded picnic tables and chairs.

Is Bellambi Pool Wheelchair and Pram accessible?

The pool level is accessible via a ramp. Entry to the pool is available via a ramp in the south west corner of the pool.

Good wheelchair access.

Pram access to the level of the pool is down a ramp. Easy access to toddlers pool.

What are the changeroom and shower facilities like at Bellambi Rock Pool?

Cold water open air showers located near the pool.

No changerooms.

Accessible toilet. You know, one of those space age ones that have an automatic door (the type you never have 100% confidence in, even though they say they’re locked), and the weird music that plays to make sure you don’t stay too long.

My preferred option at this pool, is definitely the quick change under a hoody towel. I will do my best to avoid the musical toilet at all costs.

How big is Bellambi Rock Pool?

The big pool measures 50m by 20m. I’m not sure how many lanes that is equivalent to, I’m guessing 8-I’ll ask the someone from the bluebottles if they know.

The kids pool is about 15m by 7m.
