Where is Bulli Rock Pool?
Bulli Rock Pool is a 50 metre lap pool located on the headland between Sandon Point Beach to the north, and Bulli Beach to the south.
Featuring in our Best of Wollongong’s Ocean Pools list 2024, Bulli Rock Pool is just over an hour’s drive south of Sydney, Bulli Rock Pool is a fantastic spot to visit. As well as the big pool, it also has a small children’s paddling pool, kids park located just behind Bulli Surf Life Saving Club, and great burgers and hot chips from Ruby’s cafe.

What is the best time to visit Bulli Rock Pool?
You guessed it-Winter! Actually, Summer weekends are a no go in my opinion for most of the ocean pools. I can’t handle crowds, so early mornings and later in the evening are your best bet. During the week outside of the school holidays, you’ll be able to enjoy Bulli Rock Pool.
What other ocean pools are near Bulli Rock Pool?
Bulli Rock Pool is just 5.5kms south of Austinmer Rock Pools to the north and is even closer to it’s southern neighbour, Woonona Rock Pool located only 1.1kms further south along Bulli Beach.
How big is Bulli Rock Pool?
The lap pool is 48m long and 25m wide according to Nicole Larkin’s The Wild Edge ocean pool mapping project.
The kids paddling pool is 10m by 12m. I’ll confirm this with a tape measure next time I head out there.
What is the water temperature like?
On a day in October 2023 that was quite sunny and mild, Donatella the Duck reported that the water temperature was 20.1 degrees.

No lifeguards on duty at the pool.

Free parking just 100m in a direct line to the pool.
Are there picnic Facilities near Bulli saltwater pool?
Located adjacent to the carpark are sheltered and unsheltered picnic tables and chairs.
Is Bulli Rock Pool Wheelchair and Pram accessible?
The pool level is accessible via a ramp. The bottom of the ramp was covered in a thick layer of soft sand when we visited in late October 2023. This would make wheelchair access to the beach good, but to the edge of the pool would be difficult. From the bottom of the ramp to the pool would be about 40m across sand.

What are the changeroom and shower facilities like at Bulli
Rock Pool?
Showers available in changerooms that offer plenty of space to get changed. Hooks to hang your gear while you get changed. The taps are labelled “hot” water, but I could only get cold out when we visited in October 2023.
Outdoor cold showers by the track from Bulli Beach behind the surf club if you’re brave enough!
Can I take my dog to Bulli Rock Pool?
There’s no dogs allowed in Bulli Rock Pool. There is timed on-leash access to the beaches either side.
