It’s funny sometimes how the planets align. A simple Christmas present of a book all about ocean pools filled with a bit of history, some stories and some beautiful imagery became an inspiration for a brand new direction, or hobby.
Around the same time I was given the book Ocean Pools by Chris Chen and Marie-Louise McDermott, I was also learning some new online skills.
This led me to the idea of trying to swim in all of the ocean pools in Australia-with no set time line, and to record my travels in the form of a website.
There are so many beautiful ocean pools and rock pools in Australia that I’m not even sure what our final tally will be. The book features 75 ocean pools, but I think we’ll end up with a few more under our belt than that.

As a family of ocean pool lovers, we’ve set ourselves the almighty task of swimming in all of Australia’s ocean pools. In doing so we hope to create the ultimate guide for anyone wanting to follow in our footsteps. We’ll start with all the one’s close to home and then work our way all up and down and around the coast.
