Wollongong and the Illawarra Region have so many fantastic ocean pools it’s hard to choose where to head on any given day. Because of this, we’ve done the hard yards ahead of time, so you can save time and visit some of the Gong’s very best.
Are lap pools your thing? Or are rock pools more your vibe? When you look at the ocean pools available to us in The Gong, it is immediately apparent that there is something here for everyone. As Summer approaches, we encourage you to get out and about and enjoy some of these fantastic facilities.

Port Kembla Olympic Pool is an awesome facility. There is a big 50m pool with 2 sections. An 8 lane lap pool, and next to that another section with a gradual sloping entry and room to splash about. There’s also one bigger kids pool and a fenced in toddler pool, both with shade sails to protect the little ones from the harsh Summer sun.

Towradgi Rock Pool is a 50m lap pool located on the headland between Towradgi Beach and Corrimal Beach.

Boasting a 10 lane, 50m lap pool plus shaded kids pool, Thirroul Pool is the ultimate lap pool in the northern suburbs. More details here…

Woonona Rock Pool is one of the best ocean pools north of Wollongong. Located on the rock shelf between Bulli and Woonona Beaches. Woonona Rock Pool is known as being one of the region’s coldest ocean pools. It features classic starters blocks, so you can channel your inner Emma McKeown and challenge your mates to an epic race. Wollongong Continental Ocean Pool is in an idyllic location next to Belmore Basin in the heart of Wollongong City. It overlooks Wollongong’s famous lighthouse, Chance and little brother lighthouse, Lance.
Nestled beneath the cliffs of The Blue Mile, this is the perfect pool to punch out some early morning laps, or do some walking laps to help you recover from leg day at the gym.

The Continental Pool at Kiama is one of our favourites because it’s so spacious. The pool is a massive 50m in length and almost as wide.
