Ocean Rock Pools Australia

Ladies Baths Wollongong

Where are the Ladies Baths Wollongong?

Situated below the carparks at the north end of City Beach in Wollongong, this heritage listed pool has fallen into a bit of disrepair.

Also known as The Women’s Baths or The Children’s Pool, this pool is often mistaken for the Nun’s Pool which is located just to the north of this one.

Visiting Ladies Baths Rock Pool the first time

Don’t get your hopes up for this one. It’s ok for a dip at high tide, but is rocky and shallow and not really worth visiting when the tide is lower. You can’t really swim in it, but maybe at high tide, grab your goggles and have a look at the rocky bottom below.

The Nun’s Pool is just over 100m to the north as the crow flies, but only accessible via a mountain goat track near the back of the Flagstaff Hill lighthouse, or by walking around from the northern side of Flagstaff Hill.

If you want an easier pool to access, I’d highly recommend The Gentlemen’s Pool on The Blue Mile walk only 1km north west of the Ladies Baths. If you’re keen to swim some laps, The Continental Pool is right next door to the Gentlemen’s Pool, or you could travel to Port Kembla Pool only 12.3kms in a southerly direction.

Our fantastic companion Dingle the duck told us the water temp was a balmy 16.9 degrees on our last visit. If you would like to get your own Dingle to tell you the water temp of where ever you swim…you can get one here.
