Where is Avoca's Ocean Pool?
Avoca Beach Rock Pool is located at the southern end of Avoca Beach. There’s access and a small carpark at the northern end of Avoca Drive.
Depending on the swell and the sand banks, there can also be some fun waves to be had if you fancy a surf as well.
Visiting Avoca's Rock Pool the first time
This rock pool reminds me of a few other “natural looking” rock pools with a similar vibe, but maybe more shallow than some of the others.
I’m definitely getting Bronte Bogey Hole vibes, and maybe a bit Mollymook Bogey Hole and Soldiers Baths at Newcastle, great spots to have a sheltered swim away from the waves if you are a bit less confident swimming, or have the little ones in tow!
Avoca Beach Rock Pool is great for the kids
Because of how shallow this rock pool is, even at high tide, it’s a nice safe option for the kids.
What other ocean pools are near Avoca Beach Rock Pool?
Terrigal Rock pool is only 13 minutes driving to the north, also a great option for the kids, but if you actually want to do some proper ocean pool swimming, you’ll have to go to The Entrance Ocean Baths, just over a half hour drive in the same direction.
If you head south, the next rock pool you’ll find is Copacabana Rock Pool, a nine minute drive south, another rock pool of a similar ilk. Macmasters Beach Rock Pool is also only 11kms in a southerly direction. Plenty of ocean rock pools to tick a few off the list in quick succession!

Don’t think there’s any bbq’s nearby. Will confirm when I visit.
How big is Avoca Rock Pool?
At it’s longest point, this rock pool is about 80m long and about 30 m across. Very shallow though.
Is Avoca Pool Wheelchair and Pram accessible?
The pool level is accessible via stairs to the beach.
Good wheelchair access to the path near the pool.
Pram access to near the pool is good.
What are the changeroom and shower facilities like at Avoca Rock Pool?
Cold water open air showers located near the track from the beach just north of the pool.
Changerooms are available with cold water showers.
Accessible toilets and showers.
